X. is a 28 year old photographer from the Boston area. Originally
trained as a painter she began taking photos in 2004 when she found herself living
in a tiny dorm with no room to paint. Her photography ranges from
fine art portraiture and fashion photography to surreal images of urban decay
and abandoned places. She works freelance taking portraits for clients, bands,
actors, and models. Her urban decay work often finds her travelling
all over the US to photograph new sites. She has documented sites in 16 states
as well as Paris, Tokyo, and London. Future trips both inside the US and abroad
are in the works. She is currently in school studying History
and this love for the past was what prompted her, along with her experience working
for the Dept. of Mental Health in Danvers MA, to begin exploring and documenting
the architecturally and historically significant New England asylums that are
currently being demolished at a saddening pace. Rana X.

2007 issue of Popular Photography and had her first solo gallery showing in
